Type of Errors in JavaScript

Type of Errors in JavaScript

Javascript is a popular scripting language that works well in many different contexts. However programmers will also encounter situations where errors occur. This tutorial lists type of errors in Javascript that occur when working with Javascript and gives ways to fix

Error Types

Here are some common errors programmers encounter. There are many different causes of the error. Finding out the cause will help the error resolution process go quickly and smoothly.

Cannot find module ‘@babel/core’ error

When your node doesn’t have Babel installed, the system will go to an error message “Cannot find module ‘@babel/core'”. Also in some new upgraded versions of Babel, the old syntax when declaring commands can be changed, so when you use this command line it won’t be able to run, which causes errors. Installing @babel/core is the ultimate and fast solution in the above error scenarios.

Unexpected token u in JSON at position 0

When using the JSON.parse() method, you will receive an error message if the string does not match the JSON syntax. The “Unexpected token u in JSON at position 0” error occurs when you are trying to pass an “undefined” to the JSON.parse() method, or when you use an undefined variable or have a typo. Check the Variable or property you want to parse to determine before running.

Uncaught SyntaxError Unexpected end of input

The error “Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected end of input” usually occurs when you omit single quotes, square brackets or double quotes while writing a statement. Adding missing markers to match the syntax will help the program run smoothly. There are now also testing and debugging tools for Javascript that make it easier and more convenient for you to write programs.

ReferenceError: document is not defined

ReferenceError: document is not defined is an error related to your document object. The error occurs when the document object you are calling is not defined in your code or it is misspelled. This causes the window and document objects to not be found when your code is generated on the server side.

“forEach is not a function”

When you call the forEach() function on an object that is not an Array, Map or Set object this will throw an error “forEach is not a function” in JavaScript. In Javascript, the forEach() function is used to iterate over each element of an object. Use Object.keys() to get an array of the object’s keys to make sure the return value matches the type passed in.

Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token

The reason for the Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token error to occur is because your code does not match the JavaScript syntax. There are many reasons why your syntax could be wrong, such as missing or extra punctuation, misspellings, .. or it could be that you have misplaced the HTML code that will also cause an error. Use Javascript enabled tools to ensure accuracy.

Cannot read properties of undefined

When you access a function or property of a variable of undefined type, the system will go to the error message “Cannot read properties of undefined”. In the situation where you have declared a variable but have not assigned a value to it. it or this variable does not exist in your program, this can be considered as an undefined variable You can check it using typeof function.

Invalid shorthand property initializer

When declaring a variable for an object, you can use an equal sign ‘=’ or a colon ‘:’ to assign a value to the variable. In case you assign the wrong syntax by mistake or mixed marks, the system will go to the message “Invalid shorthand property initializer”. Consistent use of commas when declaring will help your program run smoothly.

“Cannot find module ‘express’ error” in Node.js

“Error: Cannot find module ‘express’” occurs when you do not have Express installed or maybe you installed it the wrong way in your project. So when I run the program, Node can’t find the express module. Use the npm install command to download and install the Express module, then make sure to add it to the package.json file.

“Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (not found)”

When some of the JavaScript or CSS files that you link to your HTML page, or the file specified by the url to style the text font or background image, etc., could not be downloaded, it is because it was deleted or not exists, the system will also go to a message “Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (not found).” Need to check the files and make sure the path is correct.

Error: Cannot find module ‘node-sass’

The Cannot Find Module ‘node-sass’ error occurs because you have not installed the node-sass module in your server. To be able to use the module’s features you need to make sure it’s installed in your program. You can run the command npm list to confirm whether you have the module installed or not. Use the package install commands to install them in your machine.
